Collaborating closely with our comprehensive support team including specialists and dedicated services, we identify and customize offerings based on the individual’s specific needs.

MANNY SIMON

ELDERCARE

Manny Simon, President of Eldercare Equities Inc., has been involved in the industry as an owner and operator since taking over management of a family-owned nursing home from his father in 1975. Over the course of his career, Manny has been involved in various capacities with approximately 25 retirement and long-term care homes, several of which have planned or incorporated specialized care programs for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. He has served on the executive and Board of Directors of the Ontario Nursing Home Association (now OLTCA) and as an executive of the Council on Aging for York Region, in addition to being a founding member and past chair of the Board of Directors of the Community Care Access Center (CCAC) for York Region. A Chartered Accountant by training, Manny couples a vast knowledge of the financial side of the business with his broad operating experience.

KIRAN SARLECH

DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL SERVICES

Kiran is an exceptionally skilled and dedicated registered nurse who holds an undergraduate degree in nursing with Honours from York University. With a career spanning since 2012, she has demonstrated unwavering commitment and dynamic leadership in serving geriatric patients, specializing in dementia care and the field of nursing as it relates to mental health.

Kiran’s track record exemplifies her commitment to enhancing the well-being and overall quality of life for those under her care.  Her remarkable abilities shine in managing and navigating complex situations, even under significant pressure, always prioritizing effective, productive, and patient-centric care. Her nursing practice is characterized by her swift and precise analysis of complex scenarios, enabling her to provide timely interventions that benefit her residents.

Furthermore, Kiran’s commitment to professional development is evident through her extensive certifications in mental health, basic and advanced wound care, PIECES, dementia care, GPA and infection control. Her dedication extends beyond her clinical work, as she has played a pivotal role in educating personal support workers (PSW’s) and nursing students in various prestigious institutions. Kiran’s contributions include the design of course content and training materials, enriching the education of future healthcare professionals.

Taneshia Persaud

Executive Director

Taneshia Persaud, a proud graduate of Centennial College, is an accomplished Certified Dementia Care Provider, Geriatric Certified Professional, and PIECES Practitioner who brings over 14+ years of nursing leadership expertise to her role as Executive Director at One Kenton Place.

Starting as a Registered Practical Nurse, she demonstrated exceptional influence in gerontological nursing. Progressing through various roles, Taneshia has adeptly navigated within the care continuum in her roles as a Health and Wellness Manager, Resident Care Services Coordinator, Clinical Practice Nurse, Documentation Nurse/RAI Coordinator, and Union Steward. Taneshia honed her clinical assessment skills, foreseeing industry demands, getting ahead of any roadblocks.

With a Certificate in LTC Administration, she embodied her dual role as the General Manager and Clinical Care Manager through a merger and acquisition, growing revenue for a premier home care company. She was then monumental in spear-heading the successful launch of a brand-new luxury retirement residence with unparalleled excellence. Taneshia formerly championed the seamless integration of four simultaneous electronic health record technology projects, while overseeing all departmental operations, and has landed notable coverage in print and broadcast outlets for WeRPN. Her passion for gerontology nursing stems from a genuine altruistic desire to care for others.

Beyond the boardroom, she cultivates balance by tending to her garden, cycling and nature walks. Her journey, highlighted by achievements and recognition, is a testament to her unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional care and enhancing the quality of life for seniors. Taneshia and her team of professionals continue to oversee all operations across One Kenton Place, strengthening the company’s reputation and leadership in the market.

Tania Kerman

Occupational Therapist

Tania Kerman graduated from Western University with a Master’s of Clinical Science in Occupational Therapy (MClScOT). She has specialized in psychogeriatric care for 22 years in various roles, shifting between inpatient and community settings. She worked as a clinical OT practitioner in inpatient geriatric rehabilitation for 10 years at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. Later she transitioned to a Case Manager/Coordinator role for the Toronto Central Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), where she directed and organized critical support and services for vulnerable seniors living in the city. She continued her work in the community at VHA Home HealthCare Rehab Solutions, providing home safety assessments. She was designated as a Ministry of Health Assistive Devices Program (ADP) authorizer, completing funding applications for seating and mobility aid prescriptions.

Since November 2017, in her current role at One Kenton Place (OKP), she utilizes her clinical expertise to provide OT services and support including assessment, treatment planning and equipment prescription for all of our residents. She is also responsible for the supervision and education of OT and OTA students from six different colleges and universities across the GTA. Tania has academic faculty status at Centennial College and she has been a devoted preceptor for over 150 students and counting! She has also been awarded funding grants from U of T for her ongoing OT student supervision. These educational grants have been utilized to support OKP OT special projects.

Mo Oziel

Services Director

Mo boasts a diverse background in both the culinary arts and the construction industry, offering a wealth of experience in his role as Services Director.

Before becoming a part of the One Kenton Place team, Mo dedicated seven years to the construction industry, where he honed his expertise in building and general contracting.

However, Mo’s life is also enriched by a deep culinary passion. Over a span of 15 years, he had the privilege of collaborating with highly skilled chefs. He has ventured into the culinary world at another retirement home as well as through the management of his own catering company for seven years, creating delightful culinary experiences for clients.

Outside of work, Mo is a firm believer in maintaining a balanced life. You’ll frequently find him on the golf course, perfecting his swing, or outside, tending to his garden.

So, whether it’s ensuring exceptional services at One Kenton Place, contributing to construction projects, crafting culinary delights, or pursuing his hobbies, Mo is here to apply his unique skills and a substantial dose of enthusiasm to the task at hand.

Rachel BALOFSKY

DIRECTOR OF RECREATION

With over seven years of experience in the healthcare field, Rachel brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Her educational background includes an undergraduate Honours degree in Sociology from York University, with a specialization in Gerontology from George Brown College.

Rachel’s journey in healthcare began with her volunteer work at Baycrest, which served as a foundation for her subsequent career growth. She further honed her skills through a combination of co-op placements and several years of hands-on experience in senior-specific settings. Her professional path led her to work in various healthcare settings, including retirement homes, Alzheimer’s treatment facilities, and a diverse range of long-term care facilities.

Throughout her career, Rachel has pursued continuous learning and development. She has completed numerous certificate courses, including Canadian Food Safety Training, Faith and Cultural Sensitivity and Safe Management training, demonstrating her commitment to delivering the highest standards of care.

Rachel’s primary focus has centered on caring for individuals with cognitive impairments. She has undergone comprehensive training in Montessori Methods for dementia and incorporates these innovative approaches into her daily recreational activities planning. Moreover, Rachel is dedicated to person-centered care principles, striving to ensure that every individual under her care experiences meaningful, quality one-on-one interactions on a daily basis.

JULIETA ZAHAROV

ASSISTANT CARE DIRECTOR

Julieta holds the distinction of being one of our most dedicated nurses, having devoted the past eight years to providing heartfelt care to the residents of One Kenton Place. With a nursing career spanning over three decades, she brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role. Julieta’s professional journey has taken her not only across Canada but also to Israel, where she honed her skills.

Her extensive background encompasses a wide range of healthcare disciplines, including geriatric care, rehabilitation, and intensive care nursing. Julieta’s reputation as a clinician is built on her unwavering dedication, boundless compassion, and a consistently positive attitude.

Julieta’s commitment to her residents knows no bounds. She goes above and beyond, doing whatever is necessary to ensure their happiness and well-being. Her approach is characterized by love in her heart and a perpetual smile on her face, leaving an indelible mark on those she cares for.

KAYDEN MOODIE

BUSINESS MANAGER

Kayden brings a wealth of experience, accumulating over seven years in roles dedicated to serving seniors. She embarked on her journey by completing her education in the Social Service Worker Program at Humber College, with a specialized focus on senior’s care. Kayden’s initial introduction to One Kenton Place occurred during her college placement, marking the beginning of her longstanding commitment to senior care. Over time, she has assumed various roles, culminating in her current position as Business Manager.

Kayden possesses a broad spectrum of knowledge in elder care, with specific expertise in providing support to seniors dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia. In her capacity as Business Manager, Kayden’s primary focus is on assisting families throughout the transition process for their loved ones. She plays a pivotal role in guiding and supporting families through what can often be a daunting and overwhelming experience. Her compassionate approach extends solace and understanding to both families and residents alike, ensuring that they receive the care and empathy they need during this critical phase.

SHAEL SIMON

Eldercare

As President of Eldercare Consulting Inc, Shael Simon has over 20 years of Retirement Home and Long-Term Care Home management experience. Shael was first exposed to the industry at an early age thanks to his father and mentor, Manny Simon, a 45-year industry veteran. He has been involved in all aspects of the business, including business development, finance and marketing.

Shael’s primary focus has been provision of management and consulting services to Retirement Residences, including involvement in renovation and expansion projects.

Prior to his current position, Shael earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto. Upon graduation, Shael got his start in the health care field at a generic pharmaceutical company where he was employed for two years as a Financial Analyst.

Kelly Hartman

Eldercare

With over 5 years of dedicated experience in retirement residences, Kelly has established herself as a trusted advocate for resident and family satisfaction. Kelly’s journey to retirement living began with a heartfelt passion for a high standard of care and support for seniors. Upon joining the industry, she pursued a Cognitive Stimulation Coach Certification through Fit Minds, demonstrating her commitment to enhancing cognitive resilience and quality of life, particularly among individuals with Dementia.
 
Kelly goes above and beyond for her team and community, fostering meaningful connections and ensuring every individual feels valued and understood. Her expertise spans various facets of retirement living, including recreation, wellness, accommodations, and marketing. She excels in matching families and seniors with the perfect home tailored to their unique needs and preferences. As a key player in the move-in process, Kelly brings a blend of empathy, professionalism, and dedication to her role at One Kenton Place, making her an asset to our community.
