The Role Of The Family
We encourage friends and families to participate in life at One Kenton Place. Whether it be sharing a meal together, spending time visiting, or trips to local restaurants and shops, there is no substitution for the positive impact that friends and families have on their loved one.
Families are a crucial component of the Care Team, and this idea sets us apart from other assisted-living facilities. Although we quickly become familiar with your loved one, you will always be ‘the expert’ as you know them best. We don’t have set visiting hours, so as long as you are not disruptive to the provision of care to your loved one or other residents, you are welcome to visit as often and for as long as you like. You can even take your loved one out on excursions as often as you wish. When it comes to family, the more the merrier – you can bring your children, grandchildren or even the family pet.
We can also host special events at our facility, whether it be a birthday, anniversary, or as simple as a Friday night dinner, we can assist with planning and catering. Families are invited to complimentary Sunday brunch with music, as well as educational nights with guest speaker once a month.
Once your loved one first arrives, we encourage families to help them feel comfortable. We provide formal family orientation tours during the first week where we offer free meals so that you can be with your loved one as much as possible. After the first week however, we encourage your loved one to have meals without family members to get used to their new environment.
